Choosing a photographer can be really daunting. There are so many photographers available. There are many great photographers out there.
Obviously it’s really important that a photographer have technical skill. Of course you want your photographer to know what to do when faced with a low lighting situations. It would be really nice if they had some tools in their toolbox to combat this…doing things like raising the ISO, or using a large aperture…all technical lingo. BUT I don’t think this is all that there is to photography…the technical stuff.
One of the best ways to know that the photographer you picked for your day is the peanut butter to your jelly is to spend some time getting to know them from their blog.
When I choose photographers to photograph me or my family who aren’t already friends, I read their blog. Who are they? What kind of things do they spend time talking about? Will I like the time I spend with them? I want to know the answers to these questions.
Blogs connect us to businesses in ways that were never seen before the interwebs. We get to find about the person behind the business. I think the more I know about the person sitting behind the key board the more certain I am of the person standing behind the camera.
I think what really connects us as humans our emotions. I think it’s important that the photographs emote something. I want my clients to remember the feelings and emotions of their day, which I’m sure they will but I want my photos to sing to the tune of their day.
I hope the words and images I share in this space connect to that sentiment.
