Are you running a business or is it an amazing hobby?
This is something I had to ask myself recently. I had to have a real honest heart to heart with myself.
I love photographing people. I adore being able to capture moments in people’s lives. It’s an amazing experience having people share a part of their lives with you.
But I had to think about the experience I offer and then cost of offering it. When I really looked at the numbers it was obvious that I had a hobby that I was head over heels in love with. I loved this hobby so much that I would do it for very little just to be behind the camera. The problem was I was trying to run a business.
I came up with three steps to remedy this problem.
- Step one get super honest with yourself. Honesty is the best policy
- Be in the know about your business. What makes makes this business awesome? What makes the services worth while?
- Price what you’re worth.
