Running a business is like constantly being in school. There is so much growth happening constantly.  Here’s a little bit about what I’ve learned being a full-time entrepreneur!

What I’ve Learned as an Entrepreneur:

Set Goals

Goal setting is the key to creating forward momentum.  How do you know that you’re making progress if you don’t create parameters and indicators to look for.  When you have a target you know what you need to work on each day!

The biggest part of goal setting that has evolved for me is using goals as information about my business! I’ve learned to give myself grace when things aren’t met perfectly, and look for the lessons when needed.  I’m also working on celebrating wins when they come as well!

Be Ready for Change

It’s now obvious that change is inevitable, especially after experiencing 2020. Being ready to pivot offers or create different experiences has been essential to the work that I do! Working in an event based business means my work was greatly impacted.  It didn’t mean everything stopped, it just meant being creative.

Guard Your Time

This one took me a minute to learn!Setting boundaries can be one of the most important things you do as an entrepreneur.  I have to guard my time from friends, family and myself.  I’m very quick to take on so much that I do not have the time to do the work that I want to get done.  When I first started along this journey I thought I could do it all, but I couldn’t do that and still feel great!

Prioritize

It’s been said you can do anything you want, but you can’t do everything at the same time.  This is so true! When running a business you have to prioritize what needs to happen first! I understand this much better now, but I still want to put everything on my to do list!

Read

Reading a book can be like taking a new class on business or gaining a mentor for a few hours. Every book I read can be a benefit to how I run my business. I’ve shared a little bit about my reading plan here, but I’ll share some of the things that are important to me when I read too! When I’m reading business books it’s an active experience.  I’m taking notes and reflecting on what the benefit is to me or business.

Learning Never Ends

Listen there will always be a reasons to gain more knowledge.  If you want to have business growth then you need to take the time to learn new ways of marketing, or different ways to share your message based on what your client wants.  I am always getting a better understanding of my clients and the business world in general!

Make Time to Reflect

Making time to reflect on what I’ve learned or on goals that I’ve set is what helps me continue to grow my business. Reflecting offers an opportunity to see the lessons!
