I haven’t talked about it on my blog. I left teaching last year and decided to persue Nikole Marie full-time.
It was a huge decision for my family and put big pressure on my biz! If I’m honest with myself prior to last year I ran my business like a hobby (passionately interested, creatively focused, but not focused on the business side of things other than fascination with the topic). It was something I wanted with all my heart though.
I loved photography. I loved my “biz.” I loved my clients, but I wasn’t nurturing my business in 2014. I didn’t really take the time needed to do it justice because I was teaching. Teaching involved so much of my time and energy. I didn’t have time to do marketing or selling in a focused way. I didn’t blog very often. So I had to make changes because I couldn’t do everything.
I learned this year just how very different a business is from a hobby! While I love photography and adore what I do running a photography business, the business side is sooooooo much more of what I do.
I love it though…the business. I wouldn’t change it for anything!
The fact that I was a teacher is the reason I also feel the pull to write about business (link to post biz blogging). My heart misses sharing in that way or taking difficult concepts and making them easier to understand. I’m glad I’m sharing in that way and I’m glad I’m writing more.
